FC Barcelona’s Twitter account hacked by OurMine

Catalan football club FC Barcelona confirmed their Twitter account was hacked Wednesday morning, following a tweet announcing the fictitious signing of player Angel Di Maria from Paris Saint-Germain.

The attack happened right after on Tuesday FC Barcelona announced their plans to sue former player Neymar. The Brazilian allegedly failed to complete his contract, and is sued for €8.5 million he received only nine months before moving to PSG. This represents the renewal bonus for the five-year deal, plus an extra 10 percent for delayed payment.

“The club demands the player return the already paid sum as he has not completed his contract,” FC Barcelona said according to BBC. “Paris St-Germain take on responsibility for the payment of these fees if the player cannot do so himself.”

In turn, Neymar says FC Barcelona owes him money and not the other way around.

“Regarding the bonuses owed for the execution of the contract of 2016, it is also necessary to inform that the player has already initiated the formal procedures of collection before the competent courts,” reads Neymar’s statement.

Hacker group OurMine claimed the attack, according to Goal.com.
